There will be a main display about two people connected with St John’s whose lives and families were impacted by the events of 1916 in Ireland and on the Western Front.  They are Dr Charles De Burgh Daly of the Royal Army Medical Corps and Cathal MacDowell, who had been the organist at St John’s and who joined the rebels at Boland’s Mills.

Apart from the main displays, there will be a recital on Sunday 28th August at 3pm featuring music, songs and recitations from the Great War and from the 1916 Rebellion, some written by Cathal MacDowell who had been organist at St John’s before he joined the Irish Volunteers. Music will be provided by Eoghan Ward, organist and Fionn Ó hAlmhain, uileann piper.
