The Epiphany of the Lord: Wednesday 6th January

7 p.m. Sung Eucharist
followed by our Epiphany Party

Videntes stellam magi gavisi sunt gaudio magno:
et intrantes domum,
invenerunt puerum, cum Maria, matre eius,
et procidentes adoraverunt eum.
Et apertis thesauris suis,
obtulerunt ei munera: aurum, thus et myrrham.
Gloria Patri et Filio et Spiritui Sancto.

Sicut erat in principio, et nunc et semper et in saecula saeculorum. Amen.

Seeing the star, the magi rejoiced with great joy;

and entering the house,
they found the boy, with Mary, His mother,
and fell down and worshiped Him.
And [when they had] opened their treasures,
they offered Him gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Glory be to the Father and Son and Holy Ghost,
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
World without end. Amen.

Quem vidistis, pastores, dicite,
annuntiate nobis, in terris quis apparuit?
[Christum salvatorem de Virgine]
Natum vidimus et choros angelorum
collaudantes Dominum, Alleluia.

Dicite, quidnam vidistis?
et annuntiate Christi nativitatem.
Alleluia.

Whom did you see, shepherds, say,

tell us: who has appeared on earth?
[Christ the savior, from the Virgin]
the new-born we saw and choirs of angels
praising the Lord, alleluia!

Say, what did you see?
And tell us of Christ's nativity.

Alleluia.

As we celebrate once again Jesus’ Birth at Christmas we wish you the blessings of peace and joy.

Hodie Christus natus est
hodie Salvator apparuit:
hodie in terra canunt Angeli,
laetantur Archangeli:
hodie exsultant justi, dicentes:
Gloria in excelsis Deo, alleluja.

Today is Christ born;
today the Savior has appeared;
today the Angels sing,
the Archangels rejoice;
today the righteous rejoice, saying:
Glory to God in the highest.  Alleluia!

O magnum mysterium,
et admirabile sacramentum,
ut animalia viderent Dominum natum,
jacentem in praesepio!
Beata Virgo, cujus viscera
meruerunt portare
Dominum Christum.
Alleluia.

O great mystery,
and wonderful sacrament,
that animals should see the new-born Lord,
lying in a manger!
Blessed is the Virgin whose womb
was worthy to bear
Christ the Lord.
Alleluia!

God our redeemer,
who prepared the blessed Virgin Mary
to be the mother of your Son:
Grant that, as she looked for his coming as our saviour,
so we may be ready to greet him
when he comes again as our judge;
who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

O Lord Jesus Christ,
who at your first coming sent your messenger
to prepare your way before you:
Grant that the ministers and stewards of your mysteries
may likewise so prepare and make ready your way
by turning the hearts of the disobedient to the wisdom of the just,
that at your second coming to judge the world
we may be found an acceptable people in your sight;
for you are alive and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit,

Father in heaven,
who sent your Son to redeem the world
and will send him again to be our judge:
Give us grace so to imitate him
in the humility and purity of his first coming
that when he comes again,
we may be ready to greet him with joyful love and firm faith;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
