In today’s Gospel reading Jesus laments that Jerusalem is the city that ‘kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it’. Yet he longs to gather her children together ‘as a hen gathers her brood under her wings’, despite their unwillingness. The reading ends with an allusion to Jesus entry into Jerusalem, ‘Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.’
